Why we started?

We as Mothers, wanted to create HANDS ON program for children at a very young age to have a tangible experience of giving Tzedaka/Charity on a monthly basis, which would also engage and educate the parents.

How it works

Program Goals

  • The Food Bank sends the KKFB  liaisons a LIST of their most needed items on a monthly basis

  • The liaisons FORWARD that list to the parents and teachers in participating schools

  • The Food Bank Director visits the school to speak to the students and EXPLAIN their role in helping feed their community

  • The parents REVIEW the list with their child and choose items to purchase/collect and bring to the school

  • A large BIN is placed in the school lobby to collect those items throughout the month. At the end of the month, the parents and children DELIVER the items to the Food Bank

  • Collect food and other critically needed items

  • Help Educate our students about hunger and food insufficiency in their own community

  • Help students understand the concept of Tikkun Olam / Repairing the world in a tangible way

About Kids for Food Bank

  • Kids for Food Bank is a program that the youngest of children can own and grow to understand, that even the smallest gesture of Kindness may impact a person’s life forever.

  • KFFB program is affordable for everyone to be able to participate and to feel that his or her contribution is equally important in order to create awareness for their local food bank.

  • This program is visual so the concept can be comprehended at the youngest ages.

  • Having the children through their own creative hands on program, educate and engage the parents to become more active with the food bank and other areas of charity.

  • For the children to have an understanding, that one person can make a difference, but working together as a team for a united cause, will have a tremendous impact on the next generation .
